I think a book club is pretty much the best audience you can get as an author. These readers are so motivated and passionate about books. Yesterday I gave a presentation to ladies of a book club at a private house in West Vancouver. I showed slides of the Canadian Arctic and talked about my mystery novel “The Stranger on the Ice” that is set in Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk in the Northwest Territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the occasion, the lady of the house had made the effort to serve home-made moose pat\u00e9! It was delicious. What I love most is the discussion following the presentation. I was asked some very interesting questions, like how do people in the Arctic bury their dead when the ground is frozen in winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They wanted to know what kind of wildlife I had seen while traveling to the Arctic and what the locals do for a living. At the end, the ladies thanked me profusely but really, I am so delighted to be there and have their attention. To actually witness the reactions and thoughts of readers is such a treat and a major incentive to do it all over again with another book club!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
