Traveling has always been part of my job as a writer and journalist. This summer was no exception. I drove again across the Canadian province of Newfoundland to discover interesting, but not so well-known places. Here some impressions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Terra Nova Nationalpark I had to hike alone but I waited until some other hikers came along and I followed them a few metres behind – just in case, if a bear came out of the bushes. <\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n

I also discovered a hiking trail in Cape Freels that was named after an iconic book by Canadian author Bernice Morgan: “Random Passage”. As an author, I didn`t want to miss this!<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n

In Mistaken Point, a guide explains fossils that are 570 million years old. Unbelievable, and I was allowed to touch them! I felt like a tiny spec in the universe.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Exploring a tunnel carved into the cliffs of Bell Island near St. John`s. It was dark and wet inside but the roof was stable.<\/strong>
