It is spring in northern Newfoundland which perfectly matches my writing mood. The gardens are waiting for the seed potatoes to be put in. My fisherman added sand and kelp last fall to improve the soil. Flowers are blossoming. The mosquitoes are out and about. Soon it is time for the local fishermen to harvest the halibut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m on a roll. No writer’s block for me. I have written 65000 words of my new German book in the Calista Gates series and I am adding 1200 words every day. The English version will follow. I’m amazed how I’m swept up in this creative wave. But then: Why does it always have to be a daily grind?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I live now with a roommate in our house. Her name is Calista Gates and she is the detective in my mystery thrillers. I spend many hours with her, think about her, write about her, put her in place, let her move around, ask her what she wants to do. A very interesting roommate with strong views and a big heart. But she doesn’t always want to be the good cop. She is quite headstrong and wants room to develop new character traits. I’m very fond of her, and so are many readers. Which makes me happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
