I haven’t published anything on my blog since February. An often quoted phrase comes to mind: “I made plans, but life got in the way.” (I did write the first draft of my next Calista Gates crime novel though and the English translation of the coming book ist finished. Now off to the copy-editing process.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my case, a long stay in my first home country Switzerland came in between and before that an unforgettable hiking holiday on Tenerife. But now I want to make up for it with three posts, so that you stay at least a little bit up to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So first here is Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands that belong to Spain. It had been a dream of mine for a long time to go hiking there. I had seen great pictures on social media, and my longing grew with every day. In March, the time had come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breaking my ankle last fall, I was also eager to see if I was fully fit again. I was pleasantly surprised with everything: my healed bone, the beauty of Tenerife, the varied, well-signposted hiking trails, the impressive Teide National Park with the volcano of the same name, and also with the accommodation in the pretty town of Icod de los Vinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hiked together with my friend Susanne, a Swiss-Canadian like me. I let the pictures speak instead of a long-winded description. Even now, after almost four months, I still live from these ten wonderful days. Europe is just so fascinating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since I am no longer traveling to the USA for the time being, Europe is my preferred alternative. I have a bucket list, and I’m determined to visit all the destinations that are on it. But I also understand the people who say: I’ve traveled enough, now I want to be comfortable. I find air travel tedious most of the time, but unfortunately it doesn’t work without it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So here are some impressions of Tenerife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
